This Weekend: Penguin Run, Horse-Drawn Haunted Hayrides

There’s really no escaping all that festive, fall stuff going on around town. Because let’s face it, there is a whole lot of autumn-themed fun to be had this weekend. Anyway, what’s not to love about pumpkins, apples, mums and foliage? Here are our picks for a fabulous fall weekend:

WHERE/WHEN: Shows are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Waterford High School auditorium.

WHY GO: Support the arts! But remember to hire a babysitter—the show isn’t recommended for kids under 13.

PRICING: Tickets purchased in advance are $12 for adults and $7 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15 for adults and $10 for students.

WHERE/WHEN: Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ocean Beach Park Pavilion. 

WHY GO: Beer, food and music--all to support the New London Rotary charities.

PRICING: $25 per person in advance, $30 day of.

WHERE/WHEN: Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Oakdale Fire Department.

WHY GO: Enjoy a haunted hayride and support the Montville Drama Club and the Oakdale Dire Department!

PRICING: Rides are $8 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under and free for kids under 3.

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Mystic Aquarium.

WHY GO: You’ll be supporting African penguin research and conservation! And you’ll get free admission to the aquarium for participating. Don’t forget to stop by ! Ten percent of all “Penguin Bagel Sales” benefit the penguins.

PRICING: Registration is $27 for adults and $17 for kids 3 to 13.

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Groton Public Library.

WHY GO: Bring the family for a magical afternoon!

PRICING: Show is free, but please register to attend.

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday at 8 p.m.

WHY GO: You love ‘em on the radio, you’ll love ‘em live at Foxwoods.

PRICING: Tickets range from $47.50 to $65.

Still need more to keep busy? Here are some more ideas:

: Friday and Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 and Sunday from 6 to 7:30 at the Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut.

: From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Olde Mistick Village on Saturday and Sunday. , too!

: From 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $25 for members and $30 for non-members.
