Free Admission For Veterans, Military Personnel At G.I.s Of Comedy Show

Garde Arts Center offers special promotion for Sunday stand-up performances

The Garde Arts Center is offering free admission for veterans and active-duty military personnel for its Sunday show featuring The G.I.s of Comedy.

The theater is offering the promotion for the 7 p.m. event, which features stand-up comedians who have served in the military or are active members of the armed forces. The group was formed by U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Thom Tran, who was medically retired in 2005 after he was wounded in combat in Iraq. The show also includes a performance of The Star Spangled Banner by Ashlyn Spring and an opening act by Johnny Joyce, who won the G.I.s of Comedy Local Talent Search put on by Comix at Foxwoods.

Anyone wishing to take advantage of the promotion should contact the Garde Arts Center at 860-444-7373, extension 1 for more information. The transaction cannot be done online since identification must be presented in person to claim a ticket. The Garde is also offering 10 percent off all other perfomances for veterans and active duty military personnel.

"It's our way of saying thank you, thank you and thank you, again and again," the theater says on its website.

For non-military members, tickets to the event are $18.
