Whiz Kids of the Week: Emma Radack And Hannah Schonenberg

The Duo That Does Everything

It would almost be easier to say what Emma Radack and Hannah Schonenberg don’t do.

They act. They sing. They volunteer. Radack is a soccer superstar. They are co-presidents of the Clark Lane Middle School Student Council. If you happen to go to any middle school event, somehow, someway they will be there and probably have helped organize it.

“I like to stay busy,” Schonenberg said.

Currently, the duo is organizing a Relay For Life fundraiser for cancer where people will walk continuously around a track for 24 hours (taking turns) to prove that cancer never sleeps. The initiative is part of the student council.

“That should be really fun,” Radack said. “I’m looking forward to sleeping over.”

The two are also involved in a community musical theater group for young adults. They just put on “Hairspray,” and are working for another show soon.

“That’s great,” Schonenberg said. “Hairspray” was her first show.

Said Radack, who has been acting and dancing for years: “I really like it. I really liked performing the live show.”

And yet, neither girl aims to be an actress. Radack hopes to be a teacher, and Schonenberg aims to become a pediatrician who helps children with special needs.

“It is amazing how complex children with special needs are,” Schonenberg said. “I hope to try and help them.”

Both girls are 13-years-old, and are eighth graders at Clark Lane. Radack is excited for next year, when she enters high school, while Schonenberg is more apprehensive.

"I am comfortable where I am," she said. "And I don't like change."
