Which Roads Are Closed During Waterford's Parade on Saturday?

Waterford Week's annual parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. but police will start closing roads at 2:15 p.m. and they won't be open again until about 5:30 p.m. when the parade ends.

Everyone loves a parade—except perhaps the unwitting drivers who don't know about it until it's too late. So here's a heads-up. Roads along Waterford's parade route will be closed on Saturday, August 10.

The parade begins at Waterford High School, winds its way along Route 156 to Route 213 and ends at Hendel's Petroleum parking lot next to the Henny Penny on Great Neck Road.

Police will begin closing the roads at 2:15 p.m., starting with Route 156 by the intersection with Route 1 and on to Route 213. There will be no through traffic on these roads, although residents who live in this area of Route 156 will be allowed to pass until 3:15 p.m.

The entire section of Route 156 and Route 213 that makes up the parade route will be closed at 3:15 p.m and no one, not even residents, will be allowed to pass while the parade is taking place. The parade is expected to take about two hours, ending no later than 5:30 p.m.

Paraders should begin assembling at Waterford High School at 2 p.m. and be prepared to walk from there down Rope Ferry Road to Great Neck Road. The Parade starts at 3:30 p.m. and the viewing stand is in front of Waterford Public Library. Be aware, however, that if you arrive early and park at the Library, you'll have to wait until the parade is over to move your vehicle.
