Waterford Mourns The Loss Of Joshua Eudy

A much loved teacher leaves a lasting legacy in Waterford.

Joshua Eudy, a much loved teacher in Waterford who had been battling cancer, passed away over the Christmas holiday. Just over a month ago, Waterford High School students took the opportunity to honor him during one of the biggest games of the season, spelling out his name in the middle of the football field.

As news of his passing spreads, tributes such as the one posted by Beau Lucas on Eudy's Wordpress page are coming thick and fast. "He is one of the best people I have ever known," Lucas posted. "He will always live on in our memories and actions."

At this time, however, it seems most appropriate that his wife and best friend, Rena, should be the one to deliver the sad news. She posted the following message on Joshua's Wordpress page:

On this Christmas, I lost my best friend.

Words cannot describe the deep void and broken-heartedness I feel. He was a fighter and fought very hard until the end and because I love him I am comforted that he suffers no longer. I see him resting his head on Jesus’ chest with an expression of deep contentment, one he hasn’t had in so long.  Jesus, our Emmanuel, thank you for Joshua. My sweet, sweet friend and husband. I will miss him so much but I know I will be comforted by your everlasting peace and that Josh is and has always been a lover of your presence. May I take up the mantle of his faithfulness, determination and uncompromising attentiveness to your Word.

Please feel free to share your memories in the comments section. Our thoughts are with Joshua's family and friends at this most difficult of times.
