Waterford: A Place For A Hero

On Sunday, there will be a ceremony to rename the duck pond at Civic Triangle Park in Waterford the Arnold E. Holm Jr. Memorial Park.

There will be no parades in Waterford on Memorial Day but, on Sunday, May 26, the town will honor one of its heroes.

At 11 a.m., there will be a ceremony to rename the duck pond at Civic Triangle Park the Arnold E. Holm Jr. Memorial Park.

Arnie's friends campaigned hard for nearly 40 years to bring him home. Holm died in 1972 when his helicopter was shot down in Vietnam but it wasn't until 2011 that his body was finally returned stateside so he could be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.

Those same supporters have since raised money for new signs and a stone memorial to make sure that Holm will always have his place in Waterford.
