Don Concascia thinks it is important for people to know where their food comes from.
So as part of a science program through for elementary school students, Concascia brought in 35 eggs. The middle school teacher had the students name the eggs, and waited patiently for them to hatch.
Wednesday, the hatching began. The students came in at their regular time after-school, and were surprised by the six chicks who had broken out of their shell.
"Hold on, let me talk me see if I can talk to them," one student said, and then began clucking at them. The chicks did cluck back.
