Tree Lighting At Quaker Hill [VIDEO]

Santa Comes In Fire Truck

Dozens gathered on the Quaker Hill green Saturday evening to sing songs, greet Santa Claus and light the Quaker Hill Christmas tree.

“We have done a lot of donations for families and people who need help this week, and we are thrilled that our community has come forward to help everyone else,” First Selectman Dan Steward said during a quick speech before the tree lighting ceremony. “That’s what (Christmas) is about, it is about helping others.”

First, people sang carols, and then Santa Claus came to the green in a firetruck. Then Steward gave a quick speech, the tree was lighted and Santa invited everybody into the Quaker Hill Firehouse for cookies and hot chocolate.

“I love Quaker Hill,” Santa said after the tree lighting ceremony. “Seeing you guys here tonight just makes me get rejuvenated to go back to the North Pole and work my butt off for the next couple of weeks.”
