Today In Waterford: Dispatching With The Fiscal Year, A Spiritual Journey to Nepal

Five things to help you plan your day on Tuesday, July 23, 2013.

1. Today's weather: You'll need an umbrella. There's a 60 percent chance of rain with scattered thunderstorms this morning and again in the late afternoon and early evening. It’s still going to be hot and humid with a high of 80 degrees and an overnight low of 71 degrees.

2. Waterford Board of Selectmen meets at 5 p.m. in the Louise T. Appleby Meeting Room at Waterford Town Hall. There's a lot of year-end fiscal housekeeping on the agenda this evening but one of the more significant requests is for an additional appropriation of $19,719 to cover overtime dispatch costs.

Police Chief Murray Pendleton said the additional cost was incurred because the department trained a new dispatcher who then failed to meet job requirements and the department then had to train someone else who is now on the job.

3. Recreation and Parks Commission meets at 5 p.m. at Waterford Community Center. Fred Brucoli is resigning from the commission, effective tonight if the Board of Selectmen accepts his resignation.

4. Historic Properties meets at 7 p.m. at Waterford Town Hall. Municipal election season is nearly upon us. The Democratic Town Committee meets at 7 p.m.
at Waterford Town Hall Auditorium.

5. Lecture at Waterford Public Library—Nepal: A Personal Spiritual Journey, 6:30 p.m.
