Taking Advantage Of Election Crowds

Girl Scouts Sell Cookies At Oswegatchie Fire Company, Bake Sale At Waterford Town Hall

While turnout was low, with only 15 percent of registered voters voting by 2 p.m., local groups took advantage of the people who did show up to vote today.

At Oswegatchie Fire Company, across the street from the polling station at Oswegatchie School, Girl Scout Troop 63405 sold Girl Scout Cookies. Girl Scout Cookies generally start being sold in January, but the Girl Scouts allowed a special election-week selling session, Troop Master Leanne Welch said.

“They said we could sell this week, so we did,” Welch said.

To help sell cookies, the girls in the troop created the “cookie dance.” The troop will also be at Oswegatchie Fire Company on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Graduation Party

Meanwhile, at Waterford Town Hall, the polling location for District One voters, a bake sale was being held to benefit the all-night post-graduation party for the Waterford High School class of 2012.

“We are taking advantage of Election Day,” said Stephan Corsaletti, a mother volunteering at the bake sale. “It has been going pretty good.”
