Road Work In Waterford—Expect Delays

Route 85 will be slow going for the next couple of weeks as new water pipes are being installed from Lake Konomic to Montville as part of the East Lyme-New London Interconnection Project.

Expect traffic on Route 85 starting today as crews will be installing water pipes along Route 85 in Waterford from the area of Lake Konomic north to Montville. This project, which will connect East Lyme's water system to New London's, will last a few weeks.

The work will be conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and police will be alternating traffic in one lane. Please try to find an alternate route if possible and drive with caution through the construction area, as people will be working in this fairly narrow road.

There will be more road work in Waterford next week which is also likely to affect traffic. The town is scheduled to begin resurfacing the following roads starting next week:

  • Millstone Road
  • West Hansson Street
  • Summer Rest Road
  • Larson Street
  • George Street
  • Avenue A
  • Governors Landing Subdivision
The work is scheduled to begin on August 21 and, if the weather cooperates, should be finished by August 27. The town's contractor, Sealcoating, Inc., will be on the job from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and police warn there could be delays of up to 20 minutes at times. Take an alternate route if you can. There will be emergency access for residents of the affected area.
