Patch PSA: Don’t Forget The Pickle

It Is Unacceptable For A Restaurant Not To Serve A Pickle With Lunch

Today, we have a very important public service announcement to all the restaurants out there: there is no excuse for not having the pickle.

Let me backtrack. Last weekend, I was out to lunch with a friend to a Waterford establishment that will remain nameless and I got a cheeseburger. The burger was delicious, the potato salad was delicious. But then, I looked for the pickle and, guess what, no pickle.

I can’t understand this. A pickle is not something that can just be cut out of the equation, and while the food was fantastic, I’m not sure I can go back to that place. It felt like I was being ripped off a little, to be honest.

Now, I know there are some people who don’t like pickles. These are my favorite people. Because then, when you go to lunch with them, you get two pickles. Not liking pickles is not any excuse for not wanting a pickle, unless you are either: a) eating alone or eating exclusively with people who hate pickles (which sounds awful anyway) or b) you are a selfish jerk who could care less about the happiness of others.

I can’t imagine pickles are very expensive. And in every way, they are a necessity. So please, restaurants out there do not skip on the pickle.
