now that its winter, and the mice, moles, voles bunnys and squirrels are buried in the snow or warm and snuggled in your garden shed, barn or attic, these fine natural predators are scoping out all the trusting domestic pets that are left outside. and those pets are usually nice and juicy, well fed too!

We live on Fog Plain Rd and three coyotes went after my 110lb bull mastiff last Sat morning at 815am in my backyard. She is ok but scariest thing I have ever witnessed

going to walmart around 2 am on the corner of Niantic river rd & osweg. I was glad I was driving slower than I usually do out of no where a coyote ran across the road stopped on the other side of the road, he looked rough, a lot of his hair on his back was missing and he looked hungry, pretty skinny, I stopped to check him out for a minute, he ran into the yard across the street, scary thinking I hope no one has any animals out tonight

our neighborhood turkey that was here for just over 2 years and stayed in my neighbors yard, wandered over to mine to eat seed, she slept in a tree above my neighbors house, very early sat. morning she always flew out of the tree and sat on part of a 5 ft. fence, I walked over to get my neighbors dog out while he was at work there were turkey feathers all over my yard and a lot next to the fence she sat on, it did not look good, whatever grabbed her was able to stand on their hind legs and grab her, she put up a small fight and there was a trail of feathers heading towards millstone road, our turkeys was named TT, lived in mago point, a lot of people stop and take photos of her, she got very comfortable here, she showed up with 2 other turkeys one day over 2 years ago, the other 2 were gone one day and she was left I was told there are also bob cats in our area and a man that lives at the end of millstone road saw 4 bob cats sunning themselves on rocks the other day, we will miss you TT, scary to think of bobcats and coyotes roaming around

I have seen a coyote around my house on Great Neck rd.....I haven't seen any turkeys in a long time they used to be around all the time. I haven't seen as many deer as i used to either.

slew of blasted geese wandering across old norwich road recently, a seat bus had to stop and wait wait wait as they dawdled, unfazed, one by one, as if they owned the road! the turkeys seem to be deeper into the woods, over toward Millers Pond some tracks in snow, they're cautious and very swift to elude. haven't heard too many coyote howls this winter either.

David: If your looking for deer they can be seen at the top of Niles Hill Road just about any night.

Tootie don't worry there are still plenty of deer around. I just see smaller groups of them now. Groups of 4 and 6 instead of 10

That's not a bad thing. Maybe I won't have to use as much deer spray to keep my gardens a "safe" haven.

I have seen quite a few red fox in the mago point area and two coyotes also, we used to have around 4 to 6 deer every night come into our yard and check out the bird feeder now there are only 2 that may come once or twice a week, this is just my personal opinion, I know two ladies that live on Niantic river road in the mago point area that told me they leave food out at night for deer to eat, not a good idea, their neighbor told me by those ladies feeding them when he had his awesome garden they ate almost everything he was growing, I don't think feeding any animals during the middle of the night is a good idea, you are attracting more than deer, let them do what they do best
