A Camera Is Replaceable—Those Memories Are Not

Waterford mom is hoping someone will return the memory card from her camera. It went missing following Oswegatchie School's promotion party on June 21.

On June 21, Oswegatchie Elementary School held its promotion party. Ever ready with a camera, Debra, the school's yearbook editor, took lots of photographs. But at some point after the event, her camera went missing.

She doesn't know whether the camera was lost or stolen—and at this point, she said, she really doesn't care. Her only concern is that she get back the memory card, because on it were pictures that are irreplaceable.

The camera card contains pictures taken at all the fifth graders events. "I can't finish their yearbook without it," said Debra. It also contains hundreds of family pictures of her daughter's dance recital, promotion, graduation, first communion, pictures and video of the family dog, which recently died at the age of 16.

"I am completely devastated," said Debra. "We have searched high and low, called everywhere, everyone, called police, pawn shops...nothing."

The camera is a Nikon Coolpix P100 (with no lens cap). The SD card, which is the main item she wants back, is gray. The last time she saw the camera was on Friday, June 21, before 4 p.m. at Oswegatchie School. She believes it may have been taken from her car as late as Sunday when she went to Stop & Shop.

"I DON'T CARE about the return of the camera. I just NEED to get those memories back that are on the SD card, which is gray," she writes in an email to Patch.

She says she won't press charges if the camera was stolen and would be prepared to offer a reward for the memory card's safe return. If you have it, or find it, she asks that you please mail the SD Card to Oswegatchie School, 470 Boston Post Rd., Waterford, CT 06385.

Editor's Note: Because the camera contained pictures of her family, Debra asked that her last name be withheld to protect their identity.
