5 Waterford Roads Where Drivers Speed the Most: Your Take

When the Waterford Police Department announced its participation in an aggressive speed enforcement program, Waterford Patch readers shared where they see drivers speeding around town the most.

Approximately 50 people shared their thoughts on Facebook and Patch. The five roads where readers said people speed the most are:

• Avery Lane! Come sit in my driveway during school bus drop off and watch the amount of people on their phones speeding past a stopped bus! (Mandy Sylvia)

• The Avenues. Lots of kids and elderly playing and walking , lots of new people and no consideration for the neighborhood they live in. We need more people monitored for speed. Should be 15 to 25 and they do 30 to 45 or more. (carol besade)

• Clark Lane, Boston Post, Great Neck, Fog Plain Rd. As a bus driver, i can tell you it’s just about every road in town. (Kathy Widmer)

• Dayton Road, I've seen people catch air , not to mention the condition of the road, it's really awful! (Celeste Putnam)

• Niantic River Road and Rope Ferry Roads. I had someone pass me on Niantic River Road on a curve. Dangerous stuff. People are crossing for the beaches or river access, many walkers and kids around. It is worse during shift changes at Millstone. (Ethel Waldron)

• Old Norwich Road is a rush hour cut through to avoid rte 32 traffic lights. people always speed on this rd. i've been passed on double lanes in a curve several times because i follow speed limits. (LESIR)

• Olive St., including school buses when school is in session. Out of control. PS i agree with Fog Plain. People fly around the curves out if their lane.... (Debbie McGrath)

• Rope Ferry in front of Millstone, also, tons of people blow through the stop sign at the top of East Wharf and High Ridge. (Laura Zawacki Shannon)

• Route 32 in Quaker Hill... I see people going 75 mph like its nothing especially in the morning commute... Smh. (Tori Yadav)

• Route 32 is unbelievable! It shouldn't be called route, more like speedway! When I was on Old Norwich Road driving, a Waterford cop was tailgating me because I was doing 30. Waterford police posted asking the same question on their Facebook page. They know the troubled spot (sic) but I've only seen them at most 4x on 32 all summer. Personally don't ask a question if you can't handle the public's concerns for their safety and the safety of others. (Anne Beyer)
