$1 Million Powerball Ticket Sold in New London County

Although three winners in New Jersey and Minnesota won the $448 Powerball jackpot Wednesday night, one lucky winner in New London county can consider him or herself a millionaire. One of the $1,000,000 winning tickets was sold in New London County.

The winning Powerball numbers drawn on August 7 were 5 - 25 - 30 - 58 - 59 the Powerball number was 32.  In total, 66,463 winning Powerball tickets were sold statewide for that date, with prizes ranging from $4 to $1,000,000.

Since the new Powerball game began on January 15, 2012, Connecticut has sold 15 prize winning tickets each worth $1,000,000, plus another 5 tickets that were “Power Played” for the game’s $2,000,000 prize.

Winning tickets must be claimed within 180-days of the drawing date before the prize expires.   CT Lottery officials encourage all players to please check their tickets online at ctlottery.org, by scanning in a lottery Ticket Checker, or at any lottery retailer location.

The overall odds of winning a Powerball prize are 1 in 31.8 based on a $2.00 play.  The odds of winning a Powerball Match 5 prize are 1 in 5,153,633.  Odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 175,223,510 million.
