Don’t miss The Arc New London County’s 36th Annual

Jack O’Keefe Memorial Strides Run, Walk and Roll!

 

NORWICH, CT - The Arc New London County and The Cactus Jack Foundation invite people of all ages and abilities to celebrate wellness and family fun at the 36th Annual Jack O'Keefe Memorial Strides Road Race at Camp Harkness in Waterford, CT, from 9:00am-2:00pm on Sunday, October 6, 2013. This unique fund-raiser features cash prizes for top male & female  finishers in 5K and 10K races, free T-shirts for the first 500 racers and welcomes people of all ages and abilities to compete in a 5k, 10k, and Family Fun Run, Walk and Roll in support of full inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Special treats include a free bounce house for children along with a balloon artist, face painting, cotton candy and much more.  Outback Steakhouse, Title Sponsor since 2004, will provide food for registered participants.

 

All proceeds benefit The Arc New London County’s Community Life & Advocacy program, which supports full inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities by teaching advocacy skills ranging from speaking up for transportation rights to preventing sexual abuse and domestic violence. 

 

The Strides Road Race is a tribute to Jack O'Keefe, Sr., the first Recreation Director at Seaside Regional Center and organizer of the inaugural race in 1978. The race also pays homage to the late George Daly (Camp Harkness Director, 1976 - 1997).
