Benedict Arnold's 1781 raid on Groton and New London will be the topic this Friday, Sept. 6, when historian Matt Reardon speaks at the Hempsted Houses.
Reardon, executive director of the New England Civil War Museum, is the author of a forthcoming book on the attack. He will be speaking on the 232nd anniversary of the raid.
The talk starts at 6; the houses will be open at 5:30 for those who want to see them. Suggested donation is $5. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Fort Griswold and the Hempsted Houses.
The Hempsted Houses , both of which survived Arnold's attack, are at 11 Hempstead St. in New London.
