Waterford Couple Claim a Slice of “Lotto” Pie for $4.5 Million Prize Win

En route for a pizza dinner with his family, Glenn Peltier of Waterford made a purposeful stop to purchase a CT Lottery “Classic Lotto” ticket for the Friday, November 2 drawing to play his usual set of “family birthday numbers.”  The following morning, Peltier checked the winning numbers on the lottery’s website (ctlottery.org) from his cell phone—and they looked very familiar.

“I looked at my ticket and sure enough, they matched.  The rest is history!”  Peltier told lottery officials.  “We hit the Lottery!”

The winning Classic Lotto numbers on November 2 were 1 - 4 - 7 - 12 - 25 - 29.  In total, 9,471 winning Classic Lotto tickets were sold for that date with prizes ranging from $2 to $4,500,000.

The November 2 drawing marks the fourth time this year that a Classic Lotto jackpot has been won.

Classic Lotto's jackpot is payable as a 21-year annuity or a one-time cash lump-sum.  Glenn and his wife, Paula, stepped forward today to claim their prize, electing the cash lump-sum of $3,045,480 (before taxes).  They received a prize check for $2,080,063 (after taxes), which according to Peltiers, will help pay off their daughter’s student loans, their mortgage, and fund their future retirement.

For selling the jackpot winning ticket, Sully’s Mobil® located at 382 Vauxhall Street in New London will receive a $10,000 bonus from the CT Lottery.

The overall chance of winning a prize in Classic Lotto is 1 in 39.3.  The chance of winning the jackpot is 1 in approximately 7.1 million.
