Ideal Skateshop and Sensations Charitable Foundation are looking for volunteers who want to support youth who range in abilities and could include disabilities like autism, attention deficit disorder, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, etc. in a unique social skills program. Only contact us if you are interested in having fun and getting exercise while volunteering.
Each week we are using skateboarding as a means to teach youth to get active and socially engaged in their community.
“The sounds and feel of a skateboard calm many of them and they’re drawn to it. Most kids are first-timers and just sit down and cruise on their butts but the joy is evident at all stages.”
Sensations Charitable Foundation realizes that traditional therapies combined with age appropriate activities can have profound effects, hence skateboarding and social skills. Combining skateboarding and social skills instruction for a sensory-filled experience is a natural fit!
