9th Annual Sunflowers for Wishes to take place July 21st – July 29th at Buttonwood Farms, Griswold CT

The 9th Annual Sunflowers for Wishes to benefit Make-A-Wish® Connecticut will be held and open to the public from July 21st through July 29th at Buttonwood Farm in Griswold, CT.

For the ninth consecutive year, crowds from all over the state of Connecticut and beyond gather at Buttonwoon Farms to be surrounded by the beauty of literally thousands of sunflowers and to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, whose mission is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. More than 450,000 sunflowers are expected to bloom on the fifteen acres of farm land. Sunflower bouquets will be sold for $5.00 each with one hundred percent of the proceeds going directly to Make-A-Wish Connecticut and its mission.

In addition to sunflower bouquets, sunflower t-shirts, note cards and Buttonwood’s own sunflower flavored ice-cream will be available for purchase to support the Foundation. Buttonwood Farm hayrides will also be back by popular demand for all to enjoy the beauty of the sunflowers. Since its beginnings, Sunflowers for Wishes has raised over $500,000 for Make-A-Wish Connecticut, wish last year alone raising an astonishing $90,000 – enough to grant the wishes of over 10 Connecticut kids just when they need it most.

Sunflowers for Wishes is open to the public from July 21st through July 29th. On July 19th, a Volunteer Appreciation Day is set aside as a kick-off for all of the volunteers who have contributed and will continue to contribute to the weeklong event. All volunteers are invited to enjoy the distinctive and delicious sunflower flavored ice-cream and meet with previous Wish kids. And on July 31st, Buttonwood Farms invites all Wish Families young and old back to the fields for Family Day!

All are invited to enjoy the sunflowers, ice-cream and hayrides that will be available July 21st – July 29th. For more information on Sunflower for Wishes please contact Kim Smith, Director of Development for Make-A-Wish Connecticut, by phone at 203.880.6968 or by e-mail at kim@ct.wish.org.
