Lancer Showcase

Waterford High School is going to do something different this year. Very often, parents do not know what their students are doing in class. On March 18th from 6:00-8:00pm, the entire school will be open for parents to get a feel of the high school academic life. We decided to call it Lancer Showcase.

Academic, art, club, and sport demonstrations are planned for the night. Mr. O’Connor, in room 324, will show what his students do in marine biology and how they use the Promethean Board to learn. In room 329, Mrs. Herr will show her sophomore biology students’ cell posters and her freshmen’s Facebook projects of the periodic table elements.

While walking through the second floor hallways, make sure not to miss Mrs. Paquette’s students’ artwork in the display cases. There will be artwork on display in the school’s media center as well.

Meanwhile, there will be several performances in the auditorium. Mrs. Winters’ String and Chamber Orchestras will each be playing two pieces, and Mr. Fioravanti’s Jazz Ensemble will be performing a few tunes. The Dance Club will do a piece dedicated to Mr. Eudy, as well as the finale for the night. The fencing team will demonstrate some of their techniques in the auditorium lobby. WaterforDrama keeps their act confidential but say they will do something “dramatic.”

While at the school, make sure to see what is for sale. The Prostart group, taught by Mrs. Montanaro, will be selling cookies at $1 for four cookies, and the School Store, next to the cafeteria, will also be open.

Even if you do not have a family member attending the school, come to see what the students in your community are doing at school. It will be an eventful night!
