Concert at Family Day

Today, the annual Waterford Family Day took place at Harkness State Park. Several organizations, such as Safe Futures, had tables with activities for children to be creative while enjoying the beautiful weather outdoors. Colorful kites were in the sky throughout the day.

Right next to the activities, the Waterford Community Band performed their final concert for the summer. Music from "The Incredibles" and "Glee," along with several marches, were played in their free concert.

Dan Seltzer, a math teacher at Clark Lane Middle School, joined the Waterford Community Band ten years ago. He has played trombone with the band ever since. "When I moved to Waterford, I found a website about the band, and decided I could join," he explained.

The band plays at several different venues around South-Eastern Connecticut, which brings variety to the audience and scenery for each concert. "The Mystic River concerts are definitely my favorite," Seltzer said. The concerts at Mystic River are once every year, at a small greenery alongside the Mystic River, providing a wonderful view of the town.

The next concert will be on October 27 at Waterford Beach.
