2.     Tonight, the planning and zoning commission meets to begin the process of to a developer who wants to turn it into a senior housing facility. The developer, however, still needs a grant to build the facility, while the town still needs to get a grant to demolish the building. Both will probably take some time.

3.     Looking for the cheapest beer in Waterford? Go to the A&P in the Stop & Shop shopping complex. According to several package store owners, the A&P can sell beer cheaper because it buys much more than the small local guys. However, if you want to help out the small local guy, go to his store.

A &P does not sell its alcohol for less because it buys in bulk, but instead because it accepts the lower margin because the grocery side of the corporation helps support the company, according to Alan Wilensky, who owns Max’s Package Store in East Lyme. All package stores buy alcohol at the exact same price, because of state law, Wilensky said.

4.     Waterford’s State Rep. Betsy Ritter has endorsed Chris Murphy, a fellow Democrat who represents the FIfth District in the U.S. House of Representatives, for United States senator. Murphy is running for the spot that will be vacated by the retiring Joe Lieberman.

Ritter released this statement: "I am happy to endorse Chris Murphy as Connecticut's next U.S. Senator.
