Delivery Driver Lifted To Hospital By Life Star

Stone Slab Falls On Driver

The Life Star Emergency Helicopter service transported a delivery driver today to Hartford Hospital after a slab of stone fell on top of him.

Earlier today, a driver was delivering slabs of stone to on Industrial Drive. He was unloading the slabs with a crane when one of the slabs fell off the crane and landed on top of the driver, according to Cohanzie Assistant Deputy Chief Greg Antipoff.

Medical crews were called at 11:51 a.m., and brought the man into an ambulance, Antipoff said. Life Star was called, landed at the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s parking lot on Industrial Drive, and carried the driver off to Hartford Hospital.

The status of the driver is not yet known, although he was conscious, Antipoff said. Police have not yet identified the driver.
