Five Things To Know For Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012

 

1. Today should be sunny, with a high near 47, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight should be cloudy, with a low around 27, according to the service.

2. Jury selection started Monday in the Dickie Anderson murder trial, according to The Bulletin.

    Anderson is on trial for allegedly killing Renee Pellegrino of Waterford in 1997 and a Norwich woman in 1998. State cold case investigators arrested Anderson in 2010 for both murders. Pellegrino’s body was found on June 25, 1998 in Waterford.

    3. Tonight, there is a fundraiser at 5 p.m. for WATERFORDrama at Mr. G’s in New London. To participate, go to Mr. G’s tonight and tell your waitperson that you are there for the WATERFORDrama fundraiser.

    4. Tonight, the Board of Selectmen will continue its budget review by reviewing the budgets of the conservation of health, public health and nursing, the police department, emergency management, harbor management and the board’s own budget. So far, the Board of Selectmen has cut $500 total aside from some bookkeeping changes in the human resources budget because of staff turnover.

    5. On this date in 1962, the United States bans all Cuban imports and exports. And on this date in 1935, Monopoly the board game is created.
